I was wondering why Ray wasn't signed in for the UCD Open :D
    Good luck lads!

The guys headed off on Friday.

Best of luck to them. Sius results page doesn't seem to be updating, but Joe's in fourth at the moment. :)

That's not bad from Joe, he's got 390 to beat and at the half-way mark, he's only dropped six points so it's still doable if he keeps to a 98 average...

    Joe's target (live)

And by the way, how utterly awesome is that? We're watching, from a snowbound Ireland, an Irish shooter's actual fecking target on the far side of the world, live???
    Technology rocks :)

Yes, but that's a 98 average in the standing. :p Also, not sure how live that target it, been showing the same thing for a good twenty minutes now.

Yeahyeahyeah, feck technology, I'd rather be watching it in Rio, with something largely composed of rum in my hand. :p

You going to tell him that? :D

Changeover maybe? But even if we're not getting the nose-of-the-bullet-cam view of things, it's a level of information that was undreamt-of when I started shooting. And no, we were not using black powder and flintlocks back then smartass :D

You have to wonder - what's next? Twitter feeds from individual megalink targets or shooters? Actual bulletcams? RIKAs on all competition shooters with live feeds to facebook? A facebook-based league of shooters from all over the world, like the ultimate postal shoot? Cameras that show a shooters-eye view through the sights using fibre-optic pickups? Sway monitors that show a shooters balance in realtime as they aim? Or something we've not thought of yet that arises out of that sort of thing?

Beats the crap out of messing about with when we introduce shooters during a match for making the sport more accessible to spectators!

Joe's started shooting again now, albiet with a 9 :(

Apart from that flyer, Joe's standing group is very tight, very nice. Sights require a couple of clicks by the look of things but it's going well.

    ooooh, nice inner ten there.

I'm looking forward to seeing Ray shoot today now. He's been having some very good scores and performances on the CISM circuit this year from what I'm hearing. Hopefully it all goes well for him today. Joe's really settled into some very solid standing shooting indeed here. That's a cracking group, excluding the flyer. For anyone not into target shooting, that ten ring is the equivalent of a headshot on a rabbit, standing, at 300 metres, and Joe's group is capable of doing that all day.

You have to admit Sparks, this does make you hanker for the standard rifle just a little. :p

And what do you think air rifle is except a standard rifle you can shoot for €1.97 less per shot than the 300m rifle? :D
    It's a Recession-friendly discipline :D

Sean finished on 543, Joe an 539. Wee bit down on where they have been I think. Sean especially was doing a bit better. Looks tough out there though, based on other people's scores. Ray is in action now.

Looks to be very blowy, a lot of targets showing strong gusting conditions from right to left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,038 ✭✭✭✭Sparks

Yeah, that's quite a ways down on what Ray shot only two weeks ago or so in the DURC open.

Ray finished with 552. I think it's telling that the current highest score in his detail is 577, which is at least five or six points lower than normal, so everyone's having a rough time of it.

Best of Luck to Ray, Sean, & Joe! Hope they do us proud!

If you look at the detailed scores, you will see that Ray started his kneeling section with a 9 and an 8, then had a miss on shot 43. He then had seven consecutive tens!

Ouch! I did think it was a very low kneeling string for him... Another cross-fire?

Damn shame. His rapid isn't going too badly though. Had one or two slightly rough shots in the standing, but overall, not bad, in eighth place as things stand.

Actually I'm not sure at the moment, I've not seen any up for sale myself, either in the for sale/wanted forum or offline. Tried frankonia.de?
