At this time of year alot of people are taking time out to relax and unwind, but there are some that find it hard not to be stayin pretty active, without goin mad in the gym on the treadmill or bike is it just a matter of doin a small bit to keep tickin over??? and not doin to much.

or there such a thing as an off season training plan?

Depends what you do. If you're a road runner then your 'season' will be geared to your next target race. If (for example) it's a spring marathon then you'll be getting some base work in ahead of your main training schedule. I've never heard of a runner having an off-season as such.

You may of course be a trackie in which case you ought to be into a pretty hard conditioning phase.

Sorry, you can't have any time off :)

Started this year with a few adventure races but hope to take to some triathlon's next year with some duathlon's in the early part of next year.

Have been in a group swimming session once a week the past month so that's helping with the swimming side of things.

was thinkin of just doin some running and cycling to keep me tickin over and addin in some weights to help overall.

would have a pretty good fitness level (29 male) so i dont want to lose it without doin to much that come next summer im done.

I'd say you've got the right approach then. Keep up a steady level of activity so that you've got a base to kick off from once you get serious.

Whilst you can't train eyeballs out all year round you certainly can't afford to sit around waiting for the spring to arrive before doing some work. I doubt there's many on here (probably a few :p) that let a little thing like Christmas stop them training.

    Good luck.
