    hi
i have a 97 polo which was running on water instead of coolant all these days before the freeze
on the weekend, the water froze i guess and the temperature went up while driving
got to a garage nearby drained all the water in it.
put some water for emergency and drove
heating was fine, temperature was fine

suddenly the hot air has reduced.
i can only get warm air now
the temperature is not going above 10degrees
i have mixed antifreeze with water now
    no luck

    any advice?

i am looking for a mechanic in maynooth
    hope i find one quickly

sounds like a blown headgasket  A mechanic can confirm this.
edit: call the AA/RAC or your insurance co. (you most likely have breakdown assistance with your insurance) and get them out to check your car. Don't drive it.

spoke to a mechanic on phone and explained the problem
he felt its common as the temperature is down
    engine is not heating much
and in relation to warm air, he says same in my car :-(
will have to ring my AA now

OP might be lucky it could be just an air-lock. Try running the car with the passenger heater turned to "HOT" and the cap off the coolant expansion tank (open very carefully) - and use the correct VW coolant, G12++, it's purple and sold in silvery containers.

    thanks mate
i got the coolant from the nearest maxol and added little
    as it was already full

i can get warm air but not hot air
i used to get hot air before
i spoke to a mechanic on phone and he said he gets warm air in his car too :-(
i just travel 2-3 miles at one go
could this be the reason that engine is not heating up?
before the temp was rising gradually for the same distance
