Samsung Galaxy S media scan issue

It takes ages and lags for ages at 10 or 11%, it was fine until I added more music and now I can't see any of the music in the media player. I can see it in myfiles and play tunes 1 by 1 but there are not present in the media players library. Any ideas? Thanks.

Found about 10-15 very weird files in one of the album folders that were not in the original folder that I copied from. They wouldn't delete or rename of anything so just reformatted and all is well now.
