This has to be one of the stupidest quotes ever. It's advice from Eircom about faults caused by the current weather.
Eircom has said that approximately 2,400 customers are without telephone and broadband services. The worst-affected counties are Dublin, Louth and Wicklow. The company has advised affected customers to access the 'Log a Fault' section of its website.

    :D

    I don't get it

They can't log a fault if their internet is down.

Did I really just have to explain that?

Same here. They must be blocking everyone from posting a reply.

If you post twice you'll get a warning from them.

    Three posts & you're out.

Ironically the same for everyone here it seems !

Boards.ie have just issued a statement. Anyone experiencing constant timeouts should report it in the feedback forum :p

Was just looking and there were no posts for about 10 minutes.
Who forgot to feed the hamsters??!

Anyway,on topic,i'd expect that from Eircom! Think they did something similiar before

Coming from the company whose ad implies that "if someone pulls out all your cables, you should just press Reset and all will be fixed" I'm not surprised!

Anyone stupid enough to hand over cash to Eircom doesn't deserve to have the internet.

Is that because anyone on Eircom is too stupid to have a mobile phone with internet access...?

Reminds me of a time in work when our mail servers went down.
I called the helpddesk to ask if they were down,
He went "Yeah they are down company wide I don't know when they will be back up but can you tell as many people as possible"
I went "grand so, will I send an email around?"
He "Yep that woukl be great thanks very much"
I made a mental note never to call helpdesk again

Those guys sound on the ball

They didn't say "turn it off and turn it on again" in their first sentence

Eircom are a fine example of absolutely crap Irish services. I'm on a supposed 7mb line, and rarely get over 1.5-2mb. And since I'm living in an apartment complex with a management company that are also beyond useless, I have no access to any other company that can deliver reliable, fast broadband. Shambolic service.
