    Hi guys,
Quick one for ya. I've been phoning round revenue, nct centre's and vrt helplines all day and no one has been able to give me an answer on this.
I'm currently looking at importing a car from the UK, but I'm wondering if I hang on until the turn of the year will the price of VRT drop as the car is a year older?
    Cheers

In theory yes as the Original Market Selling Price (OMSP) of the car on which VRT is calculated, should be less due to the car being a year older.

However as it is a given that the VRT bands and motor tax bands and are going to be adjusted in the budget it might be better to VRT the car before the increases take effect which will probably be from Jan 1st.
