No hot water in taps

I have a problem with getting hot water from my taps. I have a gas boiler. it comes on, heats the rads but not the water to the taps. It was working fine until Sunday morning. Had plenty of snow on friday night/saturday. the shower and taps had hot water going to them. But on Sunday morning, despite the heating being on for over an hour we had no hot water. it just runs cold despite leaving it on for a few mins. The only way I could get hot water to the taps was to turn on the immersion in the hotpress.
Someone suggested that i turn down the thermostat on the tank in the hotpress. I tried this but didn't work.

Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Is there any chance that someone or some falling clothes accidentally closed a bypass valve in the hot press? In most houses there's a bypass valve for the hot water supply to the water tank.

i don't think so but will check it out. THere are two small blue "boxes on two pipes with a little switch on them, i thought maybe one of these might have been flick by as you say some falling clothes. didn't want to fiddle with them without knowing what they did or what position the switch should be in

Just took a look and all the valves are in the open position

Just been looking at the cylinder tank, I've checked the thermostat and 2 port valve to make sure there was power going to them all and there is. When the boiler is on the pipe to the left of the 2 port valve (positioned on the horizontal pipe approx 2/3rds the way up the tank) becomes hot however the pipe to its right (heading into/out of the tank) does not get hot at all
