Do you ring if you want to make a complaint about a taxi company in Belfast. I rang the company and they said they would be taking it further, but as a southern Ireland resident, I personally don't think this will happen. Is it better to ring the DOE, Belfast City Council or DVLNI??? I have posted in The Belfast City forum, but I think I will get a better response from this forum.

Complaints about taxis and private hire vehicles

If you are unhappy with the fare, quality of vehicle, driving or behaviour of the driver or any other issue, make your complaint to the driver or the taxi company.

Try to note the taxi’s licence plate number, the driver’s badge number, time of the incident, date and location it took place or as much information as possible. Explain in detail what went wrong, stay calm and stick to the facts.

If you cannot get the complaint resolved with the driver or taxi company, contact:

    Driver and Vehicle Agency
    Road Transport Licensing Division
    148/158 Corporation Street
    Belfast
    BT1 3DH.

    Tel: 028 9025 4100

Out of interest what happened to you?

Rang the company, very well known company, at 18.30. to collect me for 19.40. to get the train down to 20.10 Dublin. It is in the so called policy that they can't ring southern Ireland mobile numbers and to be waiting outside. I told them that I have had pneumonia, just recovered from it and I can't wait outside incase I get a relaspe. They said ok, but be there for 19.40, I was there for 19.38, waited for 4 mins, and was too cold so went back in the place I was staying. They said they came, but I think otherwise. I got another then, missed my train, had to get the 23.00 bus to Dublin, got to Dublin at 0157, and no taxis in Dublin, eventually I rang someone and they collected me from Dame Street. Got home to bed at 4am and doctor is coming to the house now: possible relaspe of pneumona. :(:(:(:(

What did you not just call a different company who would ring Southern Mobile numbers? Or ask the place you were staying in to call you a taxi. Most hotels etc are happy to call a taxi and at least then the taxi company probably have a local contact number.

It's hardly their fault your pneumonia relapsed.

Having lived in Belfast for many years, I have to say my experience of Belfast is that taxi drivers generally rely on time and never take the hand out of you. I even got one last year to Downpatrick (35km) for £25 at 3am. As the previous poster stated, its not their fault you had pneumonia
