Oil boiler keeps cutting out

My mother has oil central heating but sometimes-it can happen once a month or a few times a night depending-the boiler knocks itself off and she has to go out and switch it back on manually. It's happened twice already today.
It was only serviced just over a year ago,and she only got oil the other day-she doesn't let the tank go empty.
She will get her plumber out to look at it when she has a bit of money but i know he's busy enough at this time of year.
Would it just need to be serviced again? It's very annoying having to go outside in this weather!!
    Thanks

what does she have to do to switch it back on manually

if it is reset the high limit stat, try turning the thermostat beside it down
a pipestat connected to the pump will prevent this happening again as it will keep warm water circulating after the boiler turns off
