    Hi all just a quick question. Is the background in the image below shot that way or photoshopped in afterwards?

    It could be either, but my guess would be that it was shot that way. It would be a strobe with a snoot behind the model fired at quite a high power into a low key backdrop.

    As CabanSail said, there is most likely another light above her aimed at the background and another aiming at her head for some hair light, but that could be just a light spill from the background light.

    I think it's actually spill, as that light is quite bright to get such a big halo.

    agree...looks like spill from either a beauty dish or grilled strobe positioned above both camera and model
