Cancelling insurance

I bought an Audi A6 2.0L on Friday and rang Quinn to transfer insurance over. They have almost doubled my premium with this car. I pay through direct debit, with the s80 I payed 41euro a month. However they want 76 with the a6! They can go F themselves!

I got a quote of 437 on 123.ie just now and via direct debit will work out at 30 euro a month. I'm going to go ahead with however will Quinn penalise for cancelling a policy on them? Will there be issues getting my no claims bonus cert from them?

    Thanks

Youd be better off asking them how much they will charge to cancel the policy. I think it depends on how long you are into the policy.

WRT your NCB you will lose whatever months you have since your last renewal. There should be no issue with them sending you out the cert for your NCB.

Beware of cancelling insurance mid term. You lose any NCB accrued since last renewal, and you often dont get back (if paid in advance) much/any of the premium. Effectively in most cases you are better off sticking it out till renewal time, unless you are in the "cooling off" period just after renewal.

I have 5 months left on my insurance. I will probably loose the 1 year no claims but i have had a full no claims bonus for a few years now anyways so i dont think i have anything to lose really. I will ring them and enquire as to what cancellation fee I have to pay.

I am wondering will they request the remainder of the premium for cancellation or something like that. If that were the case I'd stick it out until the policy expires.

With Quinn D there's a €50 admin fee to cancel and get your NCB sent to you. They may not do this until you send back into them, your current cert and disc.

QD are not exclusive in this, most insurers and brokers charge similar fee's and have similar mechanics of doing business.

I'll still be doing well though getting a policy which is more then 100% cheaper. Quinn can have their 50 quid and good luck to them:rolleyes:

I want to enjoy my car in the cheapest possible way. The policy I am offered on 123.ie is exactly the same as what Quinn are offering.
I'm off doing what everyone else is doing these days and shopping around. Everyone quoted me cheaper then Quinn with this car:P

€41euro a month V's €76 is not 100% cheaper. It's 46.05% cheaper, well, it was when I went to school anyways.

I must have been very bad school, because in real €41 is about 54% cheaper then €76.

If you count it the other way, €76 is about 85% more expesive then 41€.

But neither way there is 46.05%

You should have asked for a quote because you are thinking of changing car.
They have you over a barrel if they know you have already bought the new car. We really should have an insurance group system for cars.
