I had a guy call to the house selling Sky packs, when I told him I had Sky for 15 years and was there any special offers he could give me for being a loyal customer he told me bluntly NO only to new subscribers, I sent him packing. So now I am thinking of switching to a UPC digital package, how does UPC compare to Sky digital

I canceled my sky a while ago, when I did they offered me my pack for half price for 6 months.

I still canceled but give it a shot.

I was in the exact same position as you. Had Sky for over 15 yrs. Jumped to UPC in August. Had full sub with Sky Also had Setants:eek: and ESPN, which brought the monthly offering to Sly to over €100:(. With UPC I have the Max pack, including Setanta Ireland & ESPN, +Sky Sports and multiroom with 2pvr for around €70 per month. Excellent value IMHO and there is no discernable difference in picture quality.

Thanks for the replys they are appreciated, like you say Kristopherus its great value when it includes Sky Sports and multi-room viewing, I am paying Sky 63 Euro a month and for the extra 7 Euro with UPC I can have the Max Pack with HD the recorder and multi-room viewing.

i had upc installed for a number of years with their mid-range package and phone and broadband. im now currently with sky. cant say both are top class but i would say this. i had to get 2 dvr's replaced with upc and even the engineer told me they weren't the greatest dvr and they have had many problems with them. i've lost the signal many times while watching tv and i'd have to change the channel and change it back or plug the box out. (that's all they'll tell you to do on the phone if u call them aswell) only minor problems with their broadband and phone service but if their entire system goes down (which has happened to me) you loose all 3 services obviously. calling their tech support could take forever to get through but at least its free (unlike sky and take just as long to get through) i have rang up substantial bills calling sky. my advice would be to find out from others if they have had similar problems with upc. of course sky are no angels and i went with a dealer, KBO in limerick and they put up my dish and after 6 weeks it nearly fell off the wall coz the engineer only put one bolt in the bracket to hold it. i rang KBO and they told me it's 50 euro to call out. so i rang sky and got a free service call and the engineer said the dish install was a joke. so for anyone out there who gets approached by a sky vendor/agent STAY AWAY coz they make their money by callouts and sky will always refer you to them, so deal with sky direct and any problems go direct to sky.
