Seemingly reckless property manager!

    Hey guys!

    Quick scenario!

A fire alarm goes off in a student accommodation block. The property manager is called. The person on the phone to the property manager is talked through how to SILENCE the alarm, after which everyone returns to bed.

    There was no inspection.

Does anyone know if this would be a breach of any laws or regs?

    Hypothetically ;)

Silencing the alarm is no big issue. But the cause of the activation should have been investigated before the all clear was given.

I’ll not sure if there an actual law or regulation requiring it, I would imagine there is. But it would be considered best practice to check the cause of the alarm.

On the up side, if the property was evacuated and no cause for the alarm was found, the evacuation can be recorded as one of the required fire drills / evacuations needed every year.
