Lansdowne has undersoil heating which has apparently been on all night so the pitch should be ok, plus you can be damn sure the groundsmen will be working flat out. The DART is running as normal. Obviously I'm guessing but I can't see why the game would be cancelled.

Considering they had a captain's run yesterday and Dublin was fairly cold I'd say it'll go ahead.

Planning to wear baselayer, jersey, fleece, extra warm hoodie, jacket. Seriously considering leggings as well.

the pitch wouldnt be the problem at this stage, but if the stands were covered in ice or snow a health and safety issue could arise.

Highly unlikely it will be cancelled. The pitch will certainly be playable.

I guess it would then come down to crowd safety - getting to/from the game.

I will be leaving earlier than originally planned, to make sure I get there on time.

I live five minutes walk from Landsdowne and also have tickets. There is about six inches of snow around the place here locally and the footpaths yesterday evening were really lethal. I think the pitch will be fine because of the heating system but I'd be curious as to how they could make the entire stadium safe in time for the match, I reckon there could be a serious health and safety issue. Lets hope it goes ahead thogh. Nothing like a few hot ports in Slatterys before and after a good game of rugby methinks!

  • At the Ire SA game in croke park last year, the Bushmills Hot Whiskey stand did incredible business.

If they're smart, they'll double their stands today!

Also, stadiums are always at least 5 degrees colder than everywhere else (or so it feels), its all about the layers, more layers of thin clothing > big jackets!

According to journal.ie the irfu are assuming match is on but will make final decision in an hour or so.

I'm literally on the train down at the moment. The bloody match better not be cancelled!!!

Of course its going ahead, to cancel it would of just topped off what has already been a disastrous few weeks for the IRFU. I am a bit worried about the stands though, slipping up there means you have a long to way to fall :(

I wouldnt be blaming the IRFU for a cancelled game. Its not their fault the weather is the way it is. I agree about the stands as it is very steep and would be worried about a fall. It should be ok at the start as no snow should have fallin on the higher sections but as the game goes on the snow being brought in on peoples shoes will be slippy.

Will be wrapping up and actually considering a thermos for soup also.

I know a good few people who can't make it because of the weather. Here's hoping the stands don't look too empty.

Well there was the small matter of about 4 inches of snow last night....

It was nowhere near that amount in Dublin. 4cm at most

Bit more than that last night here in Bath Avenue. Footpaths okayish but could be very slippy later on.

4 inches around south city centre and Dublin 4 area. DART and LUAS running alright today. The footpaths will be treacherous, would love to watch the masses trickle along in the hope of people falling!

Was a good 3 inches at least here

What a damning indication it would be of a already very disapointing stadium in terms design and coping with crowd numbers, if it couldn't handle a bit of snow...

I'd be amazed if the game was called off..
