Not giving proper notice?

    Hi, just a question here.

    Everyone in a family's workplace will be let go on Tuesday. The company has given them three days notice and told them they are not required to pay redundancy. The companies isn't closing down, they just lost a contract and these employees have no work to do anymore. It also isn't a small company, it is a worldwide company.

    But anyways, the question.
    Do they have to pay redundancy (it is stated in the contract that ten weeks pay for every year of service) once they have been working their more than 5 years.

    Also, the three days notice. In the contract it says a weeks notice must be given for every year of service. The person has been working their for ten years, can they do this? So thats 10 weeks notice afaik

    Statutory redundancy kicks in after 2 years and they have to pay the full notice period even if the persons are told to leave the same day.

    immediatley, they are entitled to 2 weeks wages per year of employmnent once they have worked for more than 2 years, anything after that is at the employers discretion.
