An Garda Siochana. A quiet word with your community Garda could do the world of good. A family could be easily quietened if the threat to move them out was excercised secondly I would call Limerick City Council - Housing Dept. If for instance the house was under the RAS scheme the Council in fairness will act. Whatever you do make a compliant to the Gardai and keep ringing and calling. If it ain't reported it ain't logged! Nip this in the bud before it becomes ugly and escalates. The more your good neighbours also do the same the better.

Don't challenge them directly, they'll beat you to a pulp.

It depends on whether it is a private house or city owned.
If it's city owned then the housing department is where you should go, but if it's privately owned it's also possible that the family has been placed there by a HSE Community Welfare Officer.

It's an archaic system, but as far as I know all HSE support is being transferred after Christmas.

Gardaí also. I know some people who live in Westbury who this has been an issue for, the problem then arises as to which authority put the family there as it's in the Clare area, but the family could have been placed by Limerick City or County Council.

Given the serious anti-social behavior in other places around the city I'd say you are wasting your time. A kid kicking a ball off the window of your house or car falls at the very lower end of the kinds of things that they are currently dealing with ignoring. See the Fairview Crescent thread for more details.

I would rather see a kid kicking football any day of the week instead of kicking somebody's head in.
Why not befriend him, Go out and kick the ball around with him, get to know him and he just may return the respect.

They don't get placed there by the HSE - the tenent rents privately from the landlord and the /hse ays the tenent. Talk to your neighbour who rented to them as it is their responibility.

My bad...yes..it's the HSE that provides the rent supplement, not the accommodation.

correct but they have nothing to do with vetting tenents or placing them - they just pay them. if you want to complain about a tenent then talk to your neighbour who rented to them or the garda who enforce the laws

You will be wasting ur time talking to landlord,Garda or hse.we are surrounded by them on our rd and I'm still waiting for the tenants next door to be evicted after complaining twice to l.lord. A Garda tol me to go straight to local authority and they will act faster on it..I'm on my up there in the morning for the third time so hopefully they will decide to open then

    I would try this first...

i guess its easy to say ' go out and try and befriend the kid ' but i have tried that with the kids on my rd and it did not make any difference. i even made them biscuit cake..i still wake up and have crap written on my car windows the odd time i park it outside my OWN house..i have had dents put on my car, things shoved up the exhaust pipe. i have plants uprooted from my garden..the list is endless.yet these kids are able to get away with it because i am the only one who will go out and have words with them..the parents only tell me ' oh kids will be kids '.
so i do not think all kids can be befriended..by all means give it ago..even try the biscuit cake idea but trust me this kids owns your road now and he knows it..best of luck

I think this would be better in the Legal forum.

@Mods Feel free to move back to the Limerick City forum if you think it's best placed here

http://www.limerickcorp.ie/Housing/Anti-SocialBehaviour/ if they or you are in a council/local authority house
I am not sure if you are in the social area and if the social area is council or housing association like respond etc
If it is council they can evict them if they keep on
