    It might eventually end up on the ISIS project:

    But I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.

    Only reported judgments are available online (by reported i mean published in one of a few law journals, such as the irish reports or the Irish law reports monthly).

    By judgment i mean the judges discussion of the case and his reasons for his decision. I assume thats what you are looking for? As this case doesnt seem to concern any new points of law or legal discussion it would most likely not be reported, as due to practical restraints very few cases can be reported each year and so only cases that are of legal interest will be reported. This in no way reflects on the seriousness of the case.

    I am unsure as to how you get copies of unreported judgments, hopefully some other user here could tell you that?

    Local newspapers are best for unreported cases.

    courts.ie publish a lot (possibly all) of the recent decisions of the Supreme Court, High Court and Court of Criminal Appeal. Whether reported or not.

    All approved reserved judgements and a few ex tempore judgements. Because of the PS industrial action, the backlog is up to several months for some decisions.

    This was the Circuit Criminal Court. It was either a jury trial or a guilty plea, followed by sentencing. There would be no judgement in the normal sense. A judge might give reasons why he refused or gave a direction and would give his reasons for a sentence. Unless there is an appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeal there will be no judgement made available in the sense meant by the o/p. The newspapers will report that there was a sentence and record the reasons given. There will be no reports of the legal argument and the reasons for any decisions other than any which might be published in the newspapers.

    I wanted to ask if you people think the sentence was fair. He gave 10k to each of the victims? Did he buy his suspended sentence? can the DPP appeal the sentence

    Yes, the DPP can appeal the sentence on grounds of undue leniency.

    i think it is too lenient especially with the 10 k payment. anyone agree?

    are people allowed write the dpp and give an opinion on a sentence?

    appeals can also be made by
    • a victim of a crime;
    • a family member of a victim of a crime;
    • an accused person; or
    • a family member of an accused person.
    from DPP site

    They can ask the DPP to appeal, they cannot take an appeal in their own right.

    I think you can't say whether it was too lenient unless you knew of the full facts involved in the case.
