These are dangerous, if you change voltage or polarisation and won't notice it you will break your laptop.
It's a lot safer to get a replacement for you particular model without any switches.

    Regards

just put some ducktape over that switch and you will be fine, polarity can't be changed easy as plugs can be connected only one way

had one of those, not too bad, but one day, after over a year it just was not working anymore

personally i would go for that one

as it is rated slightly higher and have small, quiet fan that prevents from overheating

but if you will use it with only one laptop best way is to get some proper replacement as they are not too much more and usually they are much better quality

I'd be asking, "do you risk using this with a €500 laptop?" I think I'd rather spend the money on the proper job.

Got one of these before. It used to get really dangerously hot and eventually stopped working. I managed to get a genuine part on ebay for not much more and it has worked ever since. I'd be very careful of these tbh.

Its a good price - I suppose they won't do with a dell laptop ?

    I got one from here - http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400170440622

and it works perfectly (so far), but i haven't had it long at all..

But i did also buy an original DELL charger for my nephew the same week for €8.00

Not much of a difference there.

Watch the current rating on these cheap power adapters. They tend to be very low (<3A), where most laptops consume at least that. If the power adapter is running hot, it usually means that it barely able to supply enough current to power the laptop. Check the current consumption rating on your original adapter and at least match it with the replacement. Don't worry about current rating being higher than the original one, as a device will only ever draw as much current as it needs.
