Lets collect failed thank whore posts from After Hours

You know when somebody starts a thread, and the first reply tries to be funny hoping to get 300 "thanks"... only to be left thankless, and not funny. Let's collect them here like a sort of "Hall of Shame", hopefully it will up the standards in AH as people wouldn't want to be mentioned in this thread.

OK I'll start. This is what I'm on about.

    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056102064

By the way I know somebody is going to post a link to this very post so let me tell you in advance it's not funny.

    Ok go.

Is this post the kind you're talking about?

Yeah, the first reply to the OP. Do you want a thanks? Hold on let me click the thumbs up button there...

    I know what you mean..

but I have three options here..

    A.
sort through some of my silly posts, that genuinely sounded funny in my head and failed miserably. Therefore making a ejit of myself because nobody got it. Or the times when I thought I was being so clever and intelligent and really hadn't a clue what I was talking about.

    B.
slag off other people who I might think are just posting for thanks and then they would slag me and I'm no good at slagging back so I'd lose.

    C.
watch and wait and see who slags who and find out who exactly is considered a thanks whore.

    I choose option C

    :D

Any of the 300-odd economics threads posted over the last week.

So basically you want to penalise posters for trying to brighten up peoples day by attempting to make a joke that somehow doesn't work:confused:

Dry balls forum is that way

    Answering a post with

    YORE MA!!

Seems to be an unfailing trick.
If only Oscar Wilde had thought of it first.

The forensic analysis of it/anger it provokes is sadder than the actual "thanks-whoring" itself - if indeed it really is "thanks-whoring".

Nothing wrong with a bit of thanks whoring.

Ok there's an exception to the "Yore Ma" posts... they don't get old.

Well it does seem to bother you seeing as you (a) notice it, (b) start a thread on it - and no, I'm not looking for thanks, that's all in your head. People have other reasons for posting stuff besides looking for thanks. Shockingly, people posted inane posts to After Hours threads long, long before the thanks system was introduced.

This one does it for me.

What exactly do thanks do anyway? Is it just worthless e-money or wa?

You must be new around here? :)

For every thanks you get you get one point..
For every 100 points you get €100 lodged by direct debit into your bank account.*

    * may or may not be a big fat lie :p
