So I'm sending my 3GS back to apple next week because the silent switch is faulty and it keeps flicking in and out for silent mode in my pocket with the slightest touch.

It had also developed 2 small cracks at the bottom at either side of the docking/charging port.

So, do apple repair them or will I get a replacement? Will they have 32gb 3g's left? Or is their an outside chance of getting an iPhone 4?! :o:o I wish.....

Replacement. I'd imagine they have a stock of 3Gs' for these eventualities.

It typically takes about 5 working days.

    hi op,
i damaged the charging port of my 3gs 32g last month and tried to fix myself and sent to a repair shop but to no joy. i sent my phone off to apple and within the week i had a brand new replacement 3gs 32g sent to me. cost me 200 notes but i was more than happy as i wanted to stay on the plan with o2 and not have to sign up for a new contract.
back on my iphone now happy days....:D

You can organise self-service on their website.

    Thanks guys,
Set it up online for send back to Apple.
This silent switch appears to be a problem on these models.

Ah it's no harm to dream.. I recently sent off an 8gb 3G for repair and after a lot of order losing and messing about, they eventually sent me back an iphone 4 :D It was almost not worth it for the amount of calls I had to make! ... Almost ;)

Got my new 3GS today! Took a week from when I sent it off because of the snow and ice!

I'm getting a replacement 3GS (the mic isn't working on my current one). They send out refurb models when they're replacing them.

Btw, you can pay €29 and they'll deliver the replacement before you send yours in. That's what I'm doing to avoid being phoneless.
