I posted about cashback for Sky a few weeks ago and looks like it's even bigger than before now. Sky+ is €100 and Sky+HD €150.

That's €40 more than what I earned for my Sky+ a few weeks ago :(

that's actually really good. it effectively makes the HD pack almost free for the first year.

Does it take long to get your cashback.
Is it by cheque or do you have to give an account number

    Here's my little breakdown :)

    SKY+HD
The cost of the lowest Sky package = €23 per month x 12 = €276.
    HD Pack = €15 per month x 12 = €180.
    The Sky+HD Box is free but there's a €30 set-up cost.
Total cost of the package for the year is €486.

Now if we look at the savings:

€50 credit if you sign up before 23rd December.
First month HD Pack is free so that's a saving of €15.
So with the cashback of €150 that's a total saving of €215

€486 - €215 = €271 for the year which is about €22.58 per month... less than the price of just taking out Sky+

    SKY+
The cost of the lowest Sky package = €23 per month x 12 = €276.
    The Sky+ Box is €49 plus a €30 set-up cost.
Total cost of the package for the year is €355.

    €355 - €110 cashback = €245 which is €20.41 per month

Has anyone actually got money back from this crowd?

just wondering.. we´ve had Sky before in my house, but it was paid for by my parents. If I changed the account into my name but it was in the same address, would this count as a new customer?

it would probably help if the "new customer" had a different last name, but you could say that you bought/inherited the house from your parents or something and needed to cancel their sub and sign yourself up?

I think I made a mistake with that as well! Fatcheese have Sky+HD at €160 at Sky+ at €110

They must just have changed in the past few hours, I was showing my mates the two offers at lunch! Must be playing catch up with thrifty!

Wouldnt use fatcheese after they screwed me over big time on Amazon cashback

    Best change thread title eoinite?

I don't know how to change the thread title. I think only a moderator can do it.

And some of the things I have been paid for were Amazon. Maybe try contacting them as they are very quick in replying to all my tickets.

The offer just keeps getting better and better.:D

But who is the faster to pay out, bethrifty or fatcheese?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 279 ✭✭Eoinite

I've only used Bethrifty once. I prefer Fatcheese as I like the service. I had a lot of questions at the start and the person I spoke to spent half an hour explaining everything to me so I understood how everything worked. From the FAQ Fatcheese say they make payments every day but from Bethrifty's FAQ they say they only pay every 2-4 weeks. So once Sky have paid them you should be able to get paid by Fatcheese straight away but you'd have to wait 2-4 weeks to get paid by Bethrifty. End of the day it's your choice to see which site you like better but that's my personal opinion of them.

Has anyone cancelled their original sky and got this deal under a new name? How long did it take?

You mean essentially committing fraud? I'm no fan of Sky, but that essentially drives subs up for everybody else.

I've also yet to hear of anybody being paid for this offer from fatcheese.

personally, i'd have absolutely no problem doing this when you consider you could be a sky customer for years and they make you pay through the nose for a SkyHD upgrade, but they're happy to give it all away for someone who up to now has never paid them a penny.

if they treated their existing loyal customers with a little respect and gave them the same discounts as new customers they wouldn't be forced into lying to get discounts.

Yeah, they wanted to charge me to fix my box when I put the new card they sent me in. After arguing they said they would give me HD for €100 instead. but it would cost an extra €15 a month for HD.
I just cancelled and got Freesat. With RTE got through an aerial. Thought i'd miss Sky but have never missed it at all.

And if only they had just replaced the box that broke when their new card was inserted they would have my €260 a year for the last 2 years. Plus the money from the 4 friends who were with sky, who I have installed Freesat for since, they would be laughing. Its easy, just buy the box, swap it in for the sly+ box. Done. You now have free satellite tv. Including some HD channels.

But i reckon they are down at least €2000 since then from us all.
    Well done Sky.

And the kicker is that I get a call at least once about about Skys great offers to go back.
Well no offer is as good a free for life. So suck on that sky.

Just bumping this for anyone interested, fatcheese are doing the offer till the 10th Dec.

I signed up for Sky+ HD and multi-room, when they rang I upgraded to 4 boxes in total 1 hd and 3 standard boxes and they said they would do it for €25 for the hd and multi-room, plus whatever channels I went for as well, so I've taken all the channels for the one month free and will ring and cancel them the day they install(they need 30 days notice).

Am I mad getting 4 boxes? The plan is to downgrade to the most basic package immediately and cancel after a year, and by getting the 4 boxes they will have to put in an octo lnb so we can always add to it ourselves.

    loopy
