We Need A New Political Structure

We need a form of direct democracy.

The Swiss system is working fantastically and the only reason it's not in operation in every corner of Earth is because greedy people want utter and total power.

We need 6 electee's from a range of political parties, to sit down at a table and determine the direction of the country. This way, everyone's ideas are listened to and not just one groups agenda. Every year, the six ministers elect a President from the six of them. The Presidency changes every 12 months. The 6 ministers are in charge for a 3 year term.

So, for arguments sake - and this is purely an example...

    Gerry Adams (SF)
    Pat Rabbitte (LP)
    Eamon Gilmore (LP)
    Enda Kenny (FG)
    Independant or Other Party
    Independant or Other Party

More power would be given to local authority and councils over their region throughout the country i.e - Munster, Conn., Leins. and Ulster. I say Ulster, as this kind of political system would give a better hope to seeing a United Ireland. We must also have the power to sack a TD if we so deem fit and organise the voting sheets so that you can vote for the party as a whole but also relegate a particular TD from that group put forth.

We need to give the people of this country the power. Let a coalition of several political parties begin!

I would not be sure of giving more power to local councils. They made a huge mess with the powers they have.

What we need are new politicians, the current class are totally removed from the real world and the problems people face. They live a cosseted and privileged existence and will never change.

I dont agree. We just need those who are trodden on the most to actually vote. Then we will have good people in power that care more about the electrorate...

    I like your selection though

    Gerry Adams (SF)
    Pat Rabbitte (LP)
    Eamon Gilmore (LP)
    Richard Bruton
    Enda Kenny (FG)
    Independant or Other Party
