Anyone any idea when the draws for the Leinster Inter Club matches will be released.

Are they sometimes giving to clubs at the ADM?

The venues for all competitions are up on the GUI website, afaicr the draws for the individual matches won't be known until some time in Jan/Feb.

GUI website only has 2010 results for Leinster. The courses and draws for other 3 provinces are listed.

    Senior Cup - Corrstown

:( Bit of a comedown from Portmarnock last year.

Not sure why it takes the Leinster branch so long to do their draws - Ulster & Connaught seem to have theirs done already. Although i suppose there's not exactly any rush given that they won't start for another 4 months or so...

no doubt we'll get drawn against the home team in the first round again. I can't understand why the host club isn't put into a different section. It's such an unfair advantage.

You have a point, but I suppose it would make it even harder to get clubs to give up their course for events.

Yeah, no way would they send a host team to an away course. It's good for the atmosphere of an event too, when you've a gang of members out checking on their own.

I've done it myself and it's not easy when you're the home team. On paper, it's a big advantage, but in reality, against a team that knows your course well, who will feel pressure-free going up against you, I think history would show fewer home qualifiers than you'd think. Bare in mind that between practice rounds and open comps, most competitive golfers know all the courses in their area really well.

I remember in about 2002, Milltown hosted Junior Cup, with what was reportedly a very strong panel of experience and kids. It was back in the day of Round 1 being match play, big crowd up to see them, and they were anihilated by a club that I think went out in R2.

I agree, while being at home is a huge advantage, you have to have the players to back it up. Good players will adapt to any course pretty easily.

I'm managing Senior Cup/Barton Shield this year and were hosting the finals.
