Employment grants or the like??

    Hi

I applied (as an employer) for the Work Placement Programme a few months ago and was lucky enough to get a great guy in who I want to keep on. This was the idea all along - once trained he'd free up some of my time to build the volume of business and he would in effect create his own job. That has almost worked out as planned but ALMOST only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades. I need an extra 3 or 4 months. Problem is my budget is very, very tight as in it would be a week to week thing whether I could pay him or not. I need some help to bridge the gap - but I don't know if there's anything out there or even where to look.

    Does anyone know of anything?

    TIA
    C

If you meet certain criteria you can apply for grant aid from your enterprise board. Boards can only consider certain types of businesses for grant aid because they have a limited budget and the Department sets criteria so that businesses with the greatest value added for the economy added are targeted with these funds(they cannot support every business because there are thousands).Criteria include no displacement of existing businesses, manufacturing or exporting etc.etc. Talk to your local one.If you cannot get direct grant aid they might assign a mentor to help you address your cost base or look at alternatives. You should also look at general schemes such as the PRSI exemption scheme http://www.welfare.ie/EN/publications/sw73/Pages/1WhatdoestheEmployersPRSIExemptionSchememean.aspx.

Thanks for the reply, LK1. In my case the scheme http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/JobseekerSupports/BackToWork/EmployerJobPRSIIncentiveScheme/Pages/Emp_PRSI.aspx seems to be the relevant one. It certainly would be some help but would only address about 10% of my problem.

    Anyone know of anything else?
