Arranging a meeting & software development

Just doing some research on the Software Development course out in LIT, and was hoping that someone here could help me out with a few things.

    (1) Approximately how much programming would you know/be taught by the end of first year? I'm currently doing a Level 6 course in Advanced Networks and Software Systems and, if I remember this right, I can advance to second year of the Software Development course in LIT provided I obtain 5 Distinctions and Merits in all other modules I think, but I don't feel as though the material covered in the first year of my course will fall short of the material covered in first year of LIT and I might end up getting caught out because of material that I hadn't learned (or, maybe, I just have too high an opinion of LIT :P)

    (2) Is it possible to arrange a meeting with a student in the course? I was planning on contacting the course contact(?) listed in the Student Handbook, but I'd also like to be able to get a student's perspective on it to see what they thought of the course in terms of difficulty, how it was delivered, etc.

If it is possible, would I have to go through the course contact to find a student to discuss things with, or does anyone know how I would go about doing it?

    (3) I noticed that the page for the course mentions that Games Developer would be a potential job as a result - this is what I am aiming to get in the end. I'd like to know if there is much coverage of games development-related subjects during the course, or would it be something that I would have to specialise in after I get the Level 8 degree?

Robbie I am in second year in it , if you know c++ a bit you will be ok , I started last year without writing a line of code in my life and found it difficult but with all the CA you possible could nearly have the year passed by the summer exams . I am mature student so that might have worked against me as I was not used to studying and the terminology they used , this year I am more on a sure footing but still way behind some in the class . pm if you want more info .

    How complex is this course?
Thinking of doing it next year; also is there any web dev in it?

also is there any web dev in it?
According to the course's page at the LIT website (link), there's some web design in First Year, and web applications in Third Year, and a little bit of info on what would be covered (I think)
This programme focuses on Software Engineering and Software Development techniques (Object Orientation, Java, Web Development, Visual C++, Multimedia etc.).
    1. With the mix of skills taught on this programme you will offer more to the current employment market taking advantage of jobs as a: Software Engineer/Application Developer (Java, C#, .Net), System Analyst/ Modeller (UML, Rational Rose), Web Designer/Developer (ColdFusion, PHP, ASP.NET), Database Developer/ Administrator (SQL Server, MySQL), Test Engineer, Games Developer (OpenGL, DirectX, Torque).

Dale it is complex well for me anyway but if you put the time you should be ok , a bit of advice get a c# book during the summer will give you a head start , in first year there was a web design subject fairly easy subject most got around 90 in the summer . It stops in second year only a small bit in databases .
