Sony Vaio Advice

You don't need 4GB RAM, and a 512mb Graphics card now, do you?
Only 64 bit processors support More then 3GB. You hardly need 64-bit.

You also said a small amount of word processing.

    I'm positive I do more work then you, and I have a FW11E. Windows 7. (3GB)
Never ever a problem! No lag, never slow etc.
Every Vaio on that site, has a minimum of 4GB RAM (par the Netbook)

I really would advise you getting a lower spec laptop.
You'll save a lot of money, because you simply don't need it.

It's a similar situation to my sister. All she does is browse the web, yet she has a 4GB, 2.56Ghz Vaio!
Don't drive a Ferrari in gridlock traffic. (Just my opinion)

I agree with Nuka really - you don't need that spec for what you're using it for. The instant web button is a gimmik too - the quality isn't as good as if you started up the laptop (this only takes a short time with W7 anyway) as Sony use their own OS here. Pure gimmick! I wouldn't get a blue ray drive either, just pick up much better stand alone player if you want to watch blue rays.

I do like Sony Vaios myself. This one on amazon would be more than enough for yor needs. Just make sure you turn off amazon's own currency convertor if you decide to get one (they rip you off here) and let your credit card do the conversion. Postage is £7, so it works out about €500. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-VPCEE3E0E-Dual-Core-Processor-SuperMulti/dp/B00452UCLQ/ref=pd_ts_computers_5?ie=UTF8&s=computers

That's great. I am fairly clueless so appreciate that. Will go for lower spec
