Army Recruitment- legal obligation?

    Hi im wondering is there anything in irish law which requires the defence forces to recruit a cadet class/personnel every year? or is this a myth?

    It is a myth. The only thing that gives this myth credence is that as far as I'm aware there has not been a year yet where they didn't take on a cadet class.

    I heard somewhere that constitutionally, the strength of the DF is not to drop under 10,500.

    I could be mistaken but I have heard this figure banded about from time to time. Obviously Im open to correction, maybe poccington knows more.

    Nowhere does the constitution mention anything about DF numbers.
