I think its supposed to signify that the car has been around the nurburgring (the sticker that is). Probably de-badged intentionally btw

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,627 ✭✭✭✭Marcusm

It can be spec'd without the m5 badge. What you are looking at is a Nurburgring decal, I believe.

its a "Ring" sticker, only cosmetic.
the car may have never left Dublin, or Ireland for that matter.

Ah yes, the remains of the Celtic Tiger.

Now an unsellable car I reckon.

Looks like a fake 'ring sticker at that ...

It's proof that either the car has been driven around the Nurburgring, or that the owner has an ebay account!

Its the old ring sticker(cooler imo)

The old owner of that car has probably done more ring laps than any other person in ireland(not in this car though) so id imagine its not an ebay job

You reckon completly wrong M5's change hands no problem. I speak from experience as I am looking to buy one at the moment. It really gets on my nerves this celtic tiger rubbish. Before the so called tiger people bought M5's and after it as well. In fact a I know a guy with an F10 M5 on order.

+1 I love your attitude!!!. Dont mind him his dream car is a 86 escort van. He posted it in the bangeromics thread. A far cry from a M5. Fcuk sake the sticker on the M5 is worth a lot more..;)

    Exactly!

Bugs me big time when people just throw a blanket over the whole country and claim we're all ****ed. Not all of us are and there are plenty of people out there buying and selling cars - even big engined performance cars!

This negative attitude is going to drag us down even further if it's left unchallenged.

To state that an M5 is unsellable is a crazy comment to make given that this is a car forum. There will always to people to buy something like that. I would admit though that the market would be narrowed considerable in the last year or so.

5k cut in price on that car recently

I'd reckon 16K max - more realistic 8.5K. Actual sale based on detailed sussing. 5K.

I am always on the look out for my M5... unfortunately at present I cannot afford to change but have every plan to get one one in 2-3 years as a weekender.

A guy I know picked up a 2006 M5 with 80k miles for €24k - one owner and over €4k recently spent servicing before he got it. Bargain I reckon. Had a drive in it and was blown away! Have been around the Nurburgring in the ring taxi and it is just an incredible car - they will always sell!

As soon as they are about for €12-15k I am in:D

OP, if you have a chance to buy that M5 do it. Thats a piece of motoring history, how many 5 litre V10 engines do you think we are gonna see in future in a 4 door?
I cant afford an M5 right now but mabey in a year or two.
A car like that will always find a buyer as long as people still love great cars.

Obviously everything changes hands and is sellable, but at a price. No point pretending there are many buyers out there for them though because there aren't.

Great time to be in the market for one, I'd love to be myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,462 ✭✭✭TheBazman

I suppose there aren't many buyers but there also aren't many for sale. Proportionally to the amount that are for sale there is probably a greater demand than say a mid range Golf.

    Isn't 35k a bit cheap for an M5 ?

What sort of mpg would you get out of it ?

18 mpg and that's trying to be economical

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,008 ✭✭✭rabbitinlights

That M3 CSL at the bottom right of the photo is the car I would be after, and I'm a massive M5 fan!!

You would see about 8-18 mpg from the M5, it's also worth noting that they are about €10k in servicing/consumables for every 10k miles driven if looked after properly.

Tread carefully, M5's are deep water.

€10,000 maintenance every year for an M5? Care to give us an itemised bill for that? Seems on a silly high to me, but then again I've never owned an M5 (but 3 other highish performance V8 petrol engined cars, including a Porsche)

I got an oil service from a main dealer for 350 euro. Tyres can be got for 1000 - 1200 for really decent ones. If u needed a service with brake pads you would be talking around 1000 I'd say. Petrol after that will obviously vary but use say 18 mpg. My insurance is 800 euro. Not sure where 10000 per year is coming from. Also you should only think about the added cost, as no car will run for a year for free.

and you'll be paying close to that for any 6 cylinder up BMW with large tyres anyway.

Maybe I was a bit heavy with €10k every 10k miles but a close friend of the family has had one for over 4 years (probably about 65k miles on the car now) and I've spoken to him numerous times about it and he always says he has a €10k slush fund for the car that gets eaten up every year and he does about 10-11k a year in it.

He gets 5-6k miles from a set of tyres to give you some indication of his driving style although that might have something to do with the roads around Connemara!

I know the labour alone for him changing all discs/pads/sensors was more than I paid for pads/discs/labour on my E39!
