    Hi Guys

Im not very smart about ths tax stuff and would appreciate any help you can offer thanks in advance

ill try to explain properly so forgive me for writing quite a bit just want to be clear

ive been out of work since April and have done all the stuff handed out cvs and attended courses ect and have not recieved a single interview, phonecall ect...

so obviously some times gone by i was a while ago going to send in the first claim for tax repayment during unemployment form but one question threw me it says do you intend to resume employment in ireland before 31 december next at the time id assume i would but i heard if i said yes and sent it in they break up the payments back to you where as if i had an excuse to say no they pay it all at once but i didnt have a reason (i wasnt going back to education or anything)

so obviously some time has passed and im still in the same boat its nearly december so i cant see my self getting work before the end of the year so should i say no and in the place they want a reason would i say something like recieved no job offers since cessation of employment or something like that (i dont want to come across as cheeky but seriously the odds of getting something now before the 31st seems pretty slim especially with the recent things happening in the goverment i can see things getting only worse

also my other question is if i apply for tax back does it in ay way affect my dole payments i have this idea if i apply and they give me money theyll cut me off or something

sorry if i come across as stupid as i said im not vey smart when it comes to this kind of stuff and would aappreciate any help

    Thanks Again

    Hi AnimeRulez

You should complete the form as "yes" as you do intend to resume employment in Ireland. I know it is going to be a tall order between now and the new year but that would not be the point. You would only answer "no" if you were planning to leave the country between now and the end of the year.

If you answer yes then you will be given a refund of tax credits up until the end of November. However as this is very close to the end of the year the chances of it being processed between now and the end of December are not good.

So if you can hang on until January you could ring revenue and ask for a balancing statement (or P21) for 2010 and this will sort out all the refunds you are due.

It should not affect your dole as you are only being refunded money you have already earned which they know about already. But you should note that if you are receiving jobseaker's benefit this is taxable and will affect the extent of the refund you will be entitled to.

Hope this helps and good luck with the job hunting
