Tunning Digital Channels on LG LCD

I have this evening tried to tune in the Digital Channels on my TV.

The scan picked up all the expected channels, rte1&2, tg4, tv3, 3e, news and all the radio stations.

The problem is that when I select any of the digital channels to try and watch them, I can get the audio perfect but no picture - just a black screen with a "HD Service" logo.

Have I not done the set up correctly or is it basically telling me that the TV i have cannot view the digital channels ? I have checked the diagnostics and the signal on the digital channel is about 75%.

    The TV Model/Type is 32LG5000.

I would appreciate any information on how to maybe get the DTT Pictures as well as the audio.

Sound like maybe it's a UK Freeview TV, which support the older MPEG2 digital standard. Only the newer "Freeview-HD" is compatable with Irish Digital TV, which is MPEG4.

If you doubt the TV recently and the store said it would get Irish digital TV then you were conned...

If you recently bought that telly in an Irish shop bring it back for a refund, it is not "fit for purpose" becuase it cannot show Irish Digital TV. However it is a 2008 model and could be a few years old in which case you have no comeback and need to buy an STB or Combi STB to decode the pictures for you.
