You could shut down power stations, you could shut down the transport network across the United Kingdom.
I saw this on Sky News last night. They have a video of it on their website here.
Is this the beginning of the end (2012)?

The whole thing seems very similar to Die Hard 2.

I decided to stick on sky news out of boredom today and saw that, it was ludacris. They where going on about this virus and an unknown enemy, they clearly said over and over again that this is basically a weapon looking for a bad guy. They went on about this vague undefinable enemy that was out to get everybody, it was almost like a sketch in a comedy show.

Just a ploy to bring in measures to censor the internet. Same old crap. lol Freedom.

Shut down power stations and shut down the transport network. We got the jump on those terrorists, we are already at the brink of that anyway and we did it all by ourselves!

Im suprised Sky News didnt have a live 24 hour chopper feed to a cave mouth in Pakistan where absolultely nothing happens.

Die Hard 2 was ****e.Now Die Hard 3,Jeremy Irons .. Id totally tap that and Im a dude! Plus the "bad guys" rolled to "When Johnny Comes Marching Home".

They were real terrorists, guns and bank jobs and hot european blondes with killer legs. None of this pansy cyber terrorism shite.

Also it had Samuel L.Jackson as the lovable african american racist. Take that conventional sterotypes! And my missus thinks they are two dimensional blow things up films.

    This is so retarded.

That virus was designed to interfere with a specific piece of equipment in a specific facility due to a known flaw in the security set up. It is therefore non-transferable. Anyone capable of understanding and modifying the virus to target a different facility would be skilled enough to make their own anyway

This is like if Bob Smith got his email account hacked because his password was "password1" and the news puts up a headline "Passwords no longer safe! Anyone's email could be vulnerable!"

What does a rapper have to do with this?
    Was he involved?

The stuxnet virus wasn't something knocked up by script kiddies, it was clearly targeted at the Iranian centrofuges. (for refining weapons grade uranium)

The general suspicion is that it was the US intelligence agencies who created and released it into Iran.
It was very specific, it only targeted certain Siemens microcontrollers that were manufactured in certain countries.

Yep cant believe Iran has nuclear power stations with windows controlling there PLC`s.

This virus spreads through windows but really infects the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC`S), Namely Siemens ones. These PLC`s are what control the machinery.

Stuxnet can reprogram the PLC`s and avoid detection.

Apparently it was the Israelis that coded it and it was infected by Russian contractors working at the plant.

I think there are two suspects for the source of this virus - but both in bed with each other.

    The USA and/or Israel

I recall that when news first came out of this virus, Israel was listed at the source and that they may have been acting with America.

Andrea is surely the more sensible option when it comes to a good old ball sucking. No?

surely they only need to install punkbuster to stop the wall hackers and avg...? It's not rocket science.

Is there a difference? I googled it and it was all rapper results I didn't want to dedicate any more time to the spelling so left it.

    SCADA system run on VERY old systems { we are talking Windows 95 at a max if not DOS?!?!}

    And they should be "Air-Gapped".

    Old news is old.

    EDIT:

One of the flaws was a HARDCODED password that was printed in the manual and if change it would void the warrenty and support contract with Siemen.

If you look at the code it was written VERY fast and patched together, and just because it has some Russian and other languages in the code does not mean it was written by somebody from that country.

This was a VERY targeted attack since the first infection was via USB key!!!
The biggest question is way did they spread to so many system?

Yea, unlike all the Die Hards, all the Lathal Weapons were brilliant and full of explosive action. Die Hard and Leathal Weapon get a 10/10 from me, but each of the following Die Hards gradually go down hill to 0/10, whereas the rest of the Leathal Weapons keep scoring highly.

"A senior IT security source said: "We have hard evidence that the virus is in the hands of bad guys – we can't say any more than that but these people are highly motivated and highly skilled with a lot of money behind them."

This sounds like a movie script written by a 9 year old.
