Opportunity for FG or Labour

Is it fair to say he end has come for the Fianna fail party?..there's just no way they can survive after the shame they have brought upon the citizens of this state. When i think about it this is the greatest opportunity for FG or Labour to dominate politics for the foreseeable future..they will have at least 10-20 years in power to get things back on track..but the first step that has to be taken by those coming into Government is to completely overhaul of the political system. This is what the country needs. i hear FG making all the promises and talking about reform but i honestly don't believe they have the desire to do the right thing..they just want power..and the sh*te talk will start again..as we now know politics in this country its a farce. its totally corrupt..a perfect example is the element of nepotism in irish politics Mary O'Rourke,Brian Lenihan, Conor lenihan..and the healy-rae clan down in kerry..this sort of bull**** has to be stamped out immediately. Having watched live footage of Dail eireann regularly for the last 2 or so years i see how poor our politicians..powerless in fact. the house is a joke..its a pointless exercise. I have lost all faith in the political system in this country and its saddening. We all deserve better than what we are going to get in the next General Election. if we're going to take the pain with all these cuts/tax's and such without kicking up a fuss...we should at least take to the streets to demand a complete overhaul of Political System.

as far as I'm aware, FG have some sort of plan for political reform - reducing numbers, abolishing the Seanad, etc..

(not that I'm a supporter of theirs. I'm still inclined towards the view that they are all an indistinct, amorphous blob of chancers and shyte talkers)

One would presume the days are closing in for the present government however, for some unknown irrational reason Fianna Fail supporters treat their party allegiance akin to that of a fan supporting his/her football team, so elequently put by Vincent Browne. It seems some people will always vote for them even if they burned and robbed everything of them which they actually did to many. On this reason they will still obtain quite a significant vote and to those who vote for them I say shame on you for political treason.

I'd say Sinn Fein are good to get seat in at least each of the border constituencies at the expense of FF. They will get seats in the radical areas of Dublin.

Labour will probably get more seats but are not in position to field candidates in all 43 constituencies to capitalise on their current popularity.

FG will probably get about 55 seats or so.....they haven't the popularity of the Fitzgerald years.

The real argument will be choice of Taoiseach, FG's numbers give them the upper hand but Gilmore is more popular with the people.

Hi, i would agree that Sinn Fein are going to do well in this election. Protest vote. Give the europeans a bit of a shake.

This isn't political theory, and it doesn't contain anything that's not already being discussed in the main Politics forum.
