Dropping out and fees

Bit preemptive, but I'd like to know where I stand.

Started a level 7 course in September, but really really not enjoying the course at all, and starting to feel like I may have made a mistake in picking it. Been mulling over potentially dropping out, and either going to a new course somewhere next year[prob not doing this as I don't have the points for most courses I would be considering]or doing a plc course next year, then heading back to college after the plc course.
So was wondering, If I dropped out at some stage during this year of this course, and went and did a plc course next year, would I be still eligible for free fees if I went back to a college after the plc, or would I be liable for fees?

If the current "Free Fees" is still in place you will be required to pay year 1 fees and lose an entitlement to any grant drawn down so far (including the Student Service Charge waiver). The entitlement will kick in again for second year.

If you had dropped out before October 31st, then you would not have to pay fees at all under the current system.

If I dropped out before the second semester this year, would I only be required to pay fees for the first semester in a new course, or the whole year?

You should check with the fees office in your college to see how much they have drawn down from the HEA for your place. It all depends on this. Some make annual returns as far as I know, while others might make them once per semester.
