there are two good reviews in last month's and this month's sporting rifle on this light. but they were saying that you'd only get out to 200yds with it, so i'd say the 300yds shots would be out

The problem with a lot of these LED torches is that they use the 18650 Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries these are fine in warm conditions but in subzero conditions they sometimes don't work very well.
You can see this with the talk about the Green Laser ND3's as well.
The solution is to use 2x CR123 batteries alkalines but they are a bit pricey to be using all the time and not all torches allow 2 x CR123s to be fitted as they are slightly different in length to 1 x 18650.
CliveJ had a god writeup on his Dealextreme LED torch which was pretty cheap IIRC.
I would still think the old lead acid and lightforce is a more reliable solution.
I have been looking at lamps for the last year and still keep coming back to the Lightforce.

Nothing personal but I have never seen a BAD review of a product in a shooting magazine.Especially Sporting Rifle which pushes its advertisers products to the nth degree.
Stalker X loaded his xxx rifle with xxxx ammo ,took a look through his xxxx binoculars etc etc.
I got fed up with the magazine.
    Just my 2c worth.

I use a LED LENSER P7 mounted on the scope, its a a serious little light. if ya shop around ya can get a kit that has the scope mount and a pressure switch that you can use under your thumb so ya can always have 2 hands on the rifle. One of the lads ere got the kit for 70 euro i think.

There's a guy on a shooting forum in the UK who writes product reviews for I think its the sporting rifle. Anyway judging by the quality of his posts and the bone questions he asks I'ld say he's a novice to shooting at best. How he's being left get away with writing articles on a shooting magazine is beyond me. Don't believe everything you read in those mags.

It says on the box it has a 210meter beem, I can clearly make out rabbits at 130 or so and foxes a fair bit further, i have shot rabbits at longer distance at night with it, im shootin a 17.hmr so the range of the light works well with the rang of the rifle

Yeah, I've a 22 mag and I'm using a Deben tracer with 2 batteries which I'm carrying around in a British army chest rig but its still a bit cumbersome with all the leads hanging off it. Was thinking of trying a lenser if it had the scope mounts but I want it for lamping foxes.

I reckon it'll work well with the wmr, foxes dont seem to mind the light as its sort of blue when you look at it and because its on the scope you have your hands free. I use it lampin alone and find it great

I remember that thread, it seems like a good light! From what you discribe the performance is very similar to the P7 for half the price

700 lumen so this is surely a very good light, pity about the price though, maybe santa will bring it to me though:D

I was finding my LF 170 flicking on and off, I stripped back 25mm of head shrink, and low and behold, I found my problem.

Having said that she was dragged through a ditch recently and got caught in wire.

Soldering iron out, re-soldered, new heat shrink applied and off we go!
