My sis in law bought a Tosh laptop last year, and its died.
At first she thought it was the power cable so she bought a new one.
It did then start up and powered the battery.
Now its completely dead, any ideas?
Is it worth getting PC world to repair it?

Is it completely dead ? no diods lighhting up anything ?

    What toshiba is it ?

No its not worth repairing it in pc world ... If its a cheap laptop try do it your self maybe its false cables inside or give it to someone doing cheap repairs at home those guys are as good as those in pc world but dont charge you 90 euro for a simple repair.

I have an old'ish Toshiba Satellite laptop that went dead on me, would not boot and would not charge. I tried the following,

Remove the battery and boot the laptop with just the power adaptor connected.
If it boots than the cables and adaptor are ok.
    Power down the laptop.
Next drop in the battery and reboot, check if the battery now charges or not.
On my laptop the battery charged without a problem and still works fine.

If you stil have problems getting the laptop to boot than you should look at the cost of repair versus the cost of buying a replacement.
