Adam’s Bank of Ireland Art Sale on Wednesday 24th November saw only one lot fail to sell with the sale realising some €1.5 million – not bad in these post- Celtic Tiger times!
Unsurprisingly the star of the sale was Lot.109. ‘Clouds at Sunset’ by Paul Henry which sold for €55,000 (Est.€30-50,000) closely followed by Lot.11. ‘Out with the Nets’ by Gerard Dillon which sold for €50,000 – well above its pre-sale estimate of €25-30,000.

Lot.22. ‘Moorland Water’ by Patrick Collins – a horrible daub pictured below – sold for an unbelievable €38,000.

I understand that further works from the Bank of Ireland's extensive collection will be sold over the next couple of years and hopefully the sales will be as interesting as yesterday's.

Bucking the trend is a little extreme - the estimates were relatively low which ensured sales. As they would be when the bank was committed to offloading the collection.
