Reconditioned IPhone

I was looking at a tv program last week, cant remember what it was. It was to do with charities who get sent old phones. In the actual clip shown, they were sorting tens or even hundreds of iPhones. I didn't think there would be that many old iphones floating around. My real question, how available or reliable would reconditioned or second user iphones be, not necessarily iphone 4, but maybe 3 or 3g versions ?

The 3G is still very useable. I gave my brother mine when I moved up to the iP4 and he loves it. I was messing with a 2G a few weeks ago, slow isn't the word...

Battery life on a an old Iphone would be the main issue i would have thought.

I am still on my 3 from 2 years ago, It is a little slow but then I am not used to anything better. Battery lasts a day and a half with middle to high usage. How long does the 4 battery last for.

I was looking for a second hand or reconditioned one for a friend who saw and likes mine. Anyone know where I would go to look for one, ebay, adverts ?

Wow just looked at them on adverts, even the old 2 is getting 150 - 180. What I saw on tv the other night must have been only mock up iphones, the guys from the charity were literally sorting dozens and dozens of various iphones.

At a stretch, I get up to 2 days from my iP4. That's with normal text/calling usage. If I am browsing the net or playing games that would drop to 1.5 days or so.

I was looking for a mate last week and I found a few iP3G on eBay for €100 or so in the UK.

Still getting 3 - 4 days out of my 3 year old iPhone 2G.

Only turn on WiFi / BT / EDGE when necessary using SBSettings.

How often you charged it (cycles) would determine how poor the battery was. I always let mine run down til it's practically dead, then charge it.
