does anyone know any good trails? was thinking about walking from Ougtherard to the foot of the Mam Turks, but it seems to be mostly road way.

I'd recommend that route your talking about. It get's really remote and is very beautiful. If you want to cut out some of the road just drive as far as the forest where the road section ends.

You should also check out the Bangor trail in Mayo.. it goes deep into Ireland's most remote area!

Let me know how you get on.

If you'd like I can make other recommendations

I have never done this way or maybe I have. is the hill of Doon down that way?

getting supplies in the area can be difficult once you leave Oughterard. I mean where can you get provisions if you wanted to go along the western way for a day or two? its a pain carrying too much food.

does Joe Kane had a shop as well as a pub?
Lennane is a possibility, but north of that is wilderness.

Joe Keanes has a shop and there would be basic provisions to be got in Leenane.
