Luas Tax Saver ticket

    I have two questions................

Firstly I got my new monthly tax saver ticket for the red line. I travel from Houston to the point. It costs eighty per month. As my tickets are €3.90 return, times 5 for the week my weekly costs are €19.50. so for the month I would have spent €8 euro. I figured as I would be using the ticket at weekends etc and maybe more than once in a day that this was good value over the course of the month. So my ticket arrived yesterday to the office and upon reading the back of it I find out that it is not valid on night luas.

When does night luas kick in? If I am in the office working late do I have to buy another ticket to get home??

Secondly I want to enquire about the ticket checkers. I saw a guy this morn get caught out with no ticket. He was obviously on his way to work and I have seen him several times a week on the luas so when he said he lost his ticket i would have beleved him. However the inspector guy took him of the luas at next stop and i presume asked for details.

I just wanted to know do these inspectors have to identify themselves or show ID before they ask for details?? I ask as if I forget my new monthly pass some day I would like to know my rights there??

    thanks

    1) Night LUAS is only over the Christmas period when they operate beyond the normal finishing times of 00:30 (weekdays) and 00:00 (Sundays). Your ticket is valid on all standard LUAS services.

    2) If you forget your pass you MUST buy a new ticket for whatever journey you take - it's your luck out.

Only annual tickets are valid on late night services

Annual Dublin Bus are valid on Nightlink and Airport Express services
Irish Rail annuals are valid all trains including extra trains at any time though a 3 euro reservation fee may be required if the train is reservation only
Luas annuals are valid all Luas services 24 hours a day if available

Monthly tickets are not valid on anything beyond the normal day to day timetable or on services with special fares in place, night luas, nightlink, airport express etc

Dublin Bus allows all season ticket holders (daily, weekly, monthly, annual) access to Airlink.

Custmoer Service Agents (inspectors) are normally in uniform or will have visible ID. Some people who claim they forgot their ticket are fraudulent. If you do forget your ticket, but a single or day return. If caught and issues a standard fare notice, they may allow an appeal if the monthly / annual ticket (only those with ID) is produced.
