So Doonbeg is one of the World's finest courses???
It isn't even one of the finest courses in Clare, never mind the world.

    yes my friend
clearly you are philistinian when it comes to golf course design.
was it too difficult for you?
how many of your ram balls did you lose in the sea/rough?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,798 ✭✭✭Mister Sifter

What kind of appearance fee is on offer for this?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,335 ✭✭✭conno16

is it soundsham or stockdam that has a direct line of contact to shane lowry?

need to get the big guns out for this one.

Don't use Ram balls Conno, which is just as well for you as no doubt you need a plentiful supply........I'd hate to be the reason they were all sold out for you next time you go to buy some.
Didn't lose a ball in Doonbeg, and no it wasn't too diffiuclt for me.
Get a few lessons before you play it next and you might not lose a ball either.
We all know your living on a different planet to the rest of us but even for you to suggest that Doonbeg is one of the worlds best courses is stretching it a bit too far.

how many times have you played it and when was the last time you were down there.
just to add a little context to your criticisms..

typical of conno to ignore your question and to instead try to get involved in petty bullschit with someone else,my advice(and probably a lot more people on boards)is to steer clear of anything conno's involved in

Ah relax would ya. He's good for a laugh & I for one find alot of his eccentric musings quite entertaining. IMO the golf forum is a better place for it.

Especially because beneath those eccentric musings, he's said enough things to make me think he knows exactly what he's about.

3 excellent courses. For those who can afford it, sounds like a good few days.

go the yellowpack route if you wish
what you're buying into here is a golf experience - memories to last you until 2012 when you sign up for the next Great Irish Links Challenge
you'll get to play 3 world class courses, network with high-net-worth individuals, be wined and dined for 4 days, and basically live the life of a pro golf player for a few days
you'd be foolish to miss out in my opinion

I see where your coming from Conno, but surely if you can only hit a 7 iron you would not be welcome?
Also would handicap not rule you out due to it being too high?

Finally there is no money left in the Country, are you flying in the "see above" individuals??????????????????????/

And how can you justify calling it one of the worlds best courses?

ones ability to maximise the potential of a 7-iron off the tee is probably the best indicator of overall golf prowess..
many of the greats have previously alluded to this fyi
it is a standard test amongst the golf elite

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,429 ✭✭✭Mr. Larson

I know a 24 hadicapper who can hit a 7 iron 220 yards. No messin.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,335 ✭✭✭conno16

maximising the potential of a golfclub does not equal to driving it a mile down the fairway..
granted it is impressive distance with a 7-iron but distance alone does not make one great

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,550 ✭✭✭Myksyk

Played Lahinch for €40 yesterday. Playing Doonbeg for €50 on Saturday. That'll do me.

It does not even include accomodation. I would say they will be fighting them off for places on this one. Is it aimed at rich yanks or something with the "transfers from shannon" bit?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,335 ✭✭✭conno16

who the hell would drive down to clare from the east coast ffs?

but yes, there is likely to be yanks around as well.
