Sound deadening material on the cheap

So i'm doing a massive audio overhaul over the next week, all the factory speakers/tweeters/crossovers and cabling is being ripped out of my E38 and before I stick in my shiney new gear i want to install some acoustic deadening material.

I'm not going down the Dynamat route as my car has big ass doors and its costing over €200 to go with that stuff.

A fair few guys in the US have used adhesive roofing insulation as a cheaper alternative, but as you may have guessed its all different names and stuff you can't get over here.

Halfords have VIBE sound deadening and its cheaper in Newry (about €120 to do all four doors) but i'd like to go cheaper; I genuinely think that stuff is massively overpriced for what it is, its just rubberized asphalt and they're charging you for putting a sticky back on it.

Anyone have any ideas of construction materials perhaps I could use? I was looking at this stuff in Woodies, Thermawrap. Maybe a roll of that and a can or two of spray adhesive? Thoughts?

    Thanks. :)

I built the loudest car ever in Ireland and made 2 records last year in 2 different SPL (sound pressure level) classes. Have good connections in UK with all sort of caraudio fellas, also with the best sound deadening suplier.

1 sq meter of 4mm the best sound deadening in UK market is roughly 30 pounds a sheet, can find it out how much exactly if interested :)

    Thats ny joke here:

But i personally would never reccommend the 1mm construction material. Why ?
First of all the difference in teperatures. When its used in construction the material is insulated, if put on the car the temp varies from +10 to 05 daily in this country during the winter time, so it just peels off by the time as the glue isnt good enough for that.

    Use proper products.

Another alternative 2mm as 4mm package will make your car heavier few stones

This stuff from Dealextreme is fairly cheap...

My brother used a few sheets of it in his 4x4 for sound deadening, and it worked great.

On SPL cars noone uses fuses but a lot of expanding foam ;)
My daily drive systems are always fused, so leave it as seems like you dont know much about that yet :)

@ Voodoomelon, i gave you the link, (caraudiodirect) they ship to Ireland as well and that stuff is WAY better than Fusion stuff. Just calculate yourself and i think Fusion stuff is even dearer.

But its all up to you, keep us posted how you geting on with the work.

    Cheers

Yup, I saw that stuff, again I need it for Monday as I have extremely limited time to do the work and it has to be then. The Vibe stuff is about the same price if you factor in shipping, I don't think theres really any "cheap" route to go with sound deadening.

    Here it is: http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_724075_langId_-1_categoryId_212460

I'll fly up to Newry and get it 25% cheaper.

I've top end Boston Acoustics Pro 50se speakers on the way, and an Alpine amp so i'll take a few pics of the whole install process. :)
