13" Laptop, not a mac

i got a dell inspiron m301z about a month ago and the fan on it is very noisy.

it didnt bother me at first (i was int the 'ooooo shiny new laptop, nothing can possibly be wrong' stage), but its a constant hum from the machine.. definitely hearable and quite annoying.

i phoned dell 2 days ago to complain about it, and one of the technicians tried changing the fan speed (or something), but when that didnt work they sent a technician round next day (yesterday) to replace the whole cooling system on the computer.

now today the noise is still there and still very annoying, so:

1 - can i return it? it has been happening since the beginning but i only reported it after over a month.

2 - can someone please recommend a similar spec laptop that is quiet, i dont even want to know its on !

the m301z looks great on paper, works very well and looks great, but the constant *whurrrr* is a pain!

using laptop for college work, music, downloading music, watching films, etc etc.

want a reliable machine from somewhere with good after care service, preferably buy in a shop and not online, dont want to wait another 2 weeks for delivery.
small thin and light is essential, but not a 10/11" netbook as i find those very annoying to use for typing essays etc.

basically i would like a laptop with the same specs as the m301z, but that is very quiet, well built and around €500 (up to €600ish)

    any help greatly appreciated !

    tl;dr - dell is shyte, need new laptop, 11-13", < €500/€600 , quiet.

For similar specs you should be looking at the acer timeline range or the asus UL range.

    Certainly not a bad price:

Free shipping seems to be UK only but they do ship to Ireland presumably at extra cost.
