im using avast anti virus and a threat has come up but i cant move it to chest or delete it. it says cannot find specified file. it says the severity is high and its a Win32:malware-gen
im starting to get worried about it, would restoring the laptop to factory settings get rid of it?

Grab a copy of AVG LiveCD and do a full offline scan.

There should be no need to retore to factory settings just to get rid of the virus. What have you tried so far?

I had a nasty virus on my computer a few days ago and used this to get rid of it :

    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

It scans your computer and gets rid of it, hope that helps.

Select a boot scan in the avast control panel then restart the pc.
