The floor is making an awful racket especially when pipes are contracting.
Want to enlarge the hole around them and put some felt or something round them to absorb movement and prevent noise.

Any handy tips for doing this, I could drill a series of small pilot holes round existing hole and break them into each other but its a bit messy and would have to keep out a bit to allow room for chuck head on drill.

    Any ideas folks!!

use a padsaw and take complete board out between joists(think i see joist in your pic)
    notch carefully around the pipes
avoid drilling as you will do damage for sure
when floorboard is out you can adjust opening around pipes or just cover with hardboard
good luck and take your time with saw

Make sure not to nip any cables. Is there a slight weap on one of them pipes. If not there was and it sealed itself.

You can enlarge that hole but I think you will make a difference.

I think its the pipes on the horizontal expaning and contracting that make all the noise. They move on the ceinging joist which is then amplified in the floorboards.

A simple test would be to put some vasaline around the hole and see if the noise reduces

I took up access board to make sure no cables nearby. No leak at present anyway.

The horizontal pipes just run to tank, so pretty sure its the vertical pipes.
