Can my wage be reduced because of the new minimum wage?

I'm very sorry if this is in the wrong place or has been brought up already, but I was wondering if, with the new lowered hourly wage, can current wages be reduced or does it only apply to new jobs? I'm currently working part time at just above minimum wage and can't really afford a cut in my pay.

If there is an employment contract in place for your present job, which contains an agreed rate of pay, then no, your pay will not be affected by the forthcoming amendment. However, this does not prevent your employer asking you and the other employees to take a pay cut.
