What should a new condensor oil boiler and balanced flue set me back, fitted?

Thinking about replacing an old oil boiler in near future, she works fine but probably about 60% efficient - uses the gas oil, no baffles. It sits in shed at rear of house.

Would also need a new balanced flue fitted to it (I think), system currently has a conventional asbestos flue. She's a real beauty of a system I have.:)

No possibility of grant aid - can't get at the piping to have separate hot water without turning the place into a building site, have a small kid, solid floors fitted perpendicular over original timber.

I had some rads replaced recently and the installer suggested a new high efficiency boiler would cost about 3 grand. I can't imagine it would cost that much.

I paid him two grand for all new rads and TRVs, place is toasty now and much better regulated but the boiler would be better placed in a museum really at this stage, and it must be destroying the BER on the house, it's called an Ahlmann, if anyone's ever heard of them, probably installed in the 60s.

Thoughts on prices, recommendations for condensor oil boiler types, etc. all welcomed.

Depending on your the size of the boiler/situation:
    Simple Boiler swap out.
    Materials cost:
    Plumbing.
A decent new condensing boiler cost around 1,250-1,400 euros. Inc balanced low level flue. (for kerosen).
But allow for new oil fittings, remote fire valves (to current regs)
and a decent circulation pump, fittings, pipe, cleanser and inhibitor ... all roughly 300 euros.
    Electrical wiring.
Fuse spur, heat resistance cable, ( current electrical regs boiler wiring only). 30 euros

Labour costs : plumber(s) one day, electrical 1/2 day, Commisioning of boiler.
    Would be approx. 400 - 500 euros.

So all said it all adds up to 2.5K - 3k

So budgeting 3K if you look at upgrading controls in house and possibly need motorized valves to zone hotwater/ heating sounds about right.

    ALSO: RE GRANT>

As far as I am concerned you are still entitled to grant as long as you upgrade controls to the best of you ability. Zoning heating using minimum of TRV's on some rads is acceptable. Fit stat on cylinder and motorized valve if you can.

Many thanks NTPM. Re Heating Controls, the only areas that can be easily accessed are the hot press (downstairs in dining room) and behind the boiler (downstairs outside, backing onto the dining room).

There is a single flow and return pipe to the boiler. I understand these head for the hotpress. The upstairs pipes extend from the hotpress.

I'm not sure if the downstairs rads are fed from the hotpress, I don't think they are - I think it branches off before the hotpress somewhere under the floor, just to make things difficult.

So anyone I've asked has said I should run a new feed from boiler to hotpress and new runs to the downstairs pipes - looks like a big job, hence my reluctance to do it.

Just so I know, to separate air and water, do you have two flow and return from boiler, or just have it branching off to all three with control valve situated at each branch? What way in theory is it piped - 1", then 3/4" and 1/2" just branching to/from the rads?

Sounds so nice and neat - shame the downstairs piping is not accessible at the moment. Why did I put down a new wooden floor:o

I find the flow upstairs isn't that great - still does the job grand though bottoms don't heat fully - despite a new pump going in - upstairs is all fed off 1/2" piping and I replaced 4 singles with doubles. Didn't realise I could get a flow problem...installer might have warned me.....
