laser tag will always be around, it will tout safety and fun, but deliver neither as the main risk in this sport or others like it is a fall or twisted ankle, not a wimpy plastic ball wafting at you. And anytime I've played Quazar I have been frustrated by a total lack of feedback or visual aid to seeing a hit, have I hit you or not, is my glorified remote control working?

I cant watch the video with sound, could you describe what they are saying?

Cue, cheesy video game music - "No bullet, no blood, but it is a real battle"

ROFL it is! I just checked now

Look the barrel of the marker is still there, and the guy in the background has a paintball marker too.

Also, both the guns are listed as AEG's, so I am guessing perfectly good airsoft guns were gutted for some universal remote control parts to be put into them!

    @Doc, yeah, its lazor tag.

Maybe if when you hit the person, instead of a helmet mounted light it emitted a tone of a certain resonance that overcame the person with the urge to puke ala Minority Report Puke Sticks :D

I am currently unhappy with the amount of ridicule this thread has generated thus far :p

Has it occured to anyone that if people buy this and try it out, it might lead to them discovering airsoft ?

Y'know...it can be a gateway gun to airsoft :)

ive heard there was something similar being shown off at one of the european trades show earlier in the year ,
using the pitch ,no more gear boxes and motors and bbs, effective ranges up to 250+ meters

I once played laser tag when i was a kid ( maybe 11-12 ) the freakin smokey room we were playing in was really confusing me and i turned abit too hard and slammed my head right into one of the pillars.
    I looked like a klingon for a week :D

just thought i should share ^^

Looking at that though you still have to buy a gun as it only sells the laser units

i think the only good advantage of this is the huge increase in range but you don;t get shot where is the fun in that. what about an electric shock so you are reduced to a quivering mess on th ground biting your own tongue. have you ever seen starship troopers where they are getting electrocuted while playing the war games brilliant.

Or slap it on the cheapest gun ever!

at the moment it is too expensive. the advantages of it would be a greater range, no need for eye protection (as there is no ammo) and no doubts over who has and has not been hit.

    Hmmmm that actually looks interesting

I think trying to be like the "miles" equipment the us army uses, except obviously, the real thing uses blank bullets at the same time to add the sounds in.

    I used to love quazar.

but I was 13 at the time.

I'm going to be dragged out the back and shot for this but I think it this has some serious potential.

Before you set your presumably magnificently moustachioed guards on me I'd like to explain why, as I have been talking about a similar system to friends who play airsoft.

    1. Range is excellent and accuracy is close to 100%. Snipers can actually snipe and there would be no need to fiddle with faulty gearboxes, new hop up units/bucking different weight BBs. If anything, it would be more realistic than shooting (relatively) slow plastic BBs at people. Also NO GOD DAMMED MASKS. This would be especially useful in a 1J system like ours where range and velocity are limited.

    2. Since people want some sort of feedback (I agree) there should probably be an electric or gas blowback system. It's not hard to implement and could easily be included in a detachable magazine.

    3. Reloading would probably not be an issue to 90% of airsofters since most use one or two high caps to avoid reloading in the first instance. I'm a mid-capper and I would like reloading. You could have a limiter on each magazine. It would probably be quite cheap to produce (probably).

    4. You would know you hit someone and know when you're hit. I think the speaker on the side of the gun it utterly retarded, to be honest, and should be done away with. Likewise with the vibrating helmet. The light on the helmet seems odd but it's a not-so-elegant solution to the problems of the airsoft honour system (let's face it, people. Just look at the amount of threads on the issue). Perhaps it shouldn't be a strobe if that's what people are concerned about.

    5. The sensor system looks like it could be modular and you might be able to install it on currently owned kit.

That Simgun system looks a thousand times better than the WSG system. I wish they would explain the magazine change system better thought, because I do like the tension from changing magazines.

I personally feel that this stuff it the way of the future. All the kinks can be ironed out into a more elegant and efficient system with given time and innovation (think pre-Tokyo Marui airsoft).

My concerns are that the WSG might have a wide area shot to hit more than one person due to the system's design. It looks like Simgun is a far more refined system. I think it's supposed to be used in conjunction with the BB lobbing ASGs.

I most certainly would like to try Simgun to see what it was like.
