My main internet access (college wireless) is behind a proxy server so if i mistype an URL, I get a page from the proxy server saying
Name Error: The domain name does not exist.
    or whatever.

What I want is to be able to search with my address bar in firefox. I'm quite used to typing "google" to reach www.google.com but in college, I just get the above error if I dont use a full domain. I s there any extension that will fix that for me by intelligently looking at what i type to see if its a domain?

usually search terms with a space do work btw
