Ahern gets applause in Dail bar?

I'm not trying to start off yet another Bertie bashing thread, but just heard on the Tubridy show that Ahern supposedly went into the Dail bar yesterday and was given a spontaneous round of applause. Did I hear correctly, or has anyone else any information about it?

If it's true, it's certainly distasteful but with an election not too far away it (possibly) also serves as a reminder of the unshakeable attitude of some FF hardliners. Wonder would they do the same thing in a more public setting?

Anyway, just curious as to whether this is really true or if anyone knows anything else about it. No rants please. Mods feel free to close or move thread if you feel it's not suitable for here. Thanks.

Bertie has been known for decades as a cute hoor, but its only now that we're starting to realise just how cute and just how much of a hoor....

Cute Hoor indeed. Did he buy them all a pint or something?

Sorry, to use a one liner, but it felt appropriate

Maybe it was sarcasm that he'd actually shown up for a change ?

IMO there aren't enough Bertie bashing threads. Yes Brian Cowen is a fool and was MoF during the creation of this crap heap but Bertie was at the helm driving us straight at the iceberg.

I would be very surprised if it was anything other than a "Look at the mess you've gotten us into, you nefarious miscreant!" type of reaction.

Reminder... The Politics forum by charter is only to have threads and posts that address serious political issues, and not posts that would be more appropriate for AH or TCN.

I'm still wondering why there is a bar in the Dail? So they can relax? They are supposed to be working for the country, not having a gossip about a heave over a pint of two. They need a canteen not a bar.

(Didn' the FG heads complain that George Lee didn't socialise with them in the bar?)
