Deadly night! .... but

I have to commend the organisers of the Drag Ball: was a fun night all round!

I was very much offended by one incident, however. Myself and a few friends were in the outdoor area of the Nubar. At one point some guy came up to us to ask if we'd be interested in buying tickets for the Drag Ball...

    To paraphrase:

"Want to get tickets for the Drag Ball?"

    "Hmmm.. Why should I?"

"I know, who wants to see gays? LGBT just took over the marketing, MPS had no input, now we have strippers with d!cks hanging out."

    "Umm. wut?"

"Sure who wants to see that. It's gonna be a great night regardless...."

"Are you saying there's something wrong with a night out like this?"

"Nah nah I love the gays, but.... *mumble*"

A little bit of discussion passed after that, but soon, he made a very fast getaway. The above is very much a summary of what was said to us.

I didn't realise that tonight's event was a joint venture between MPS and LGBT. I certainly didn't expect to find out that it was such through the homophobic conversation from a fellow student.

I can only commend LGBT and MPS on a great night out, but at least one of the team seemed to assume that the group he was trying to sell tickets to was as homophobic as he was. I was disgusted.

Must've been a memorable night if all you can comment on is getting offended while buying your ticket.

    Hi, Chairperson of MPS here.
I'm fairly shocked and disgusted to hear that this was going on.
Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
Obviously, this was not the attitude of the society as a whole, just one rogue member, expressing his own homophobic views.
We'll take this very seriously and try and get to the bottom of it.
    I apologise for his comments.

Glad you enjoyed the rest of the night. I had a great time too and thanks for coming despite your bad experience!

I didn't buy a ticket. And as I said, it was a great night.

I was offended by the manner of this particular individual.

DCU is probably littered with pathetic homophobes. I could openly suspect a few groups (with good reason) but I'd be swiftly banned. :pac:

Glad to hear that it was a good event.

I would just like to say I had a great night at the Ball. It was quite awesome actually. MPS rule. Oh and the others too :P

Fantastic night. I had planned to go home after a pint or two but ended up staying thanks to the ball.

Fair play to MPS and LGBT for organising the event! Loved it.
